Inspired by the cathedrals of the natural world: the mountains, the giant trees, the
astonishing rock formations I have explored techniques that are both considered and
spontaneous to compose sculpture through non-repeatable gestures, much in the same
way the world is sculpted by the wind, water, and time.
I carve Styrofoam in a choreographed dance with an electrically heated wire and
manipulated hot wax with water in an effort to create compelling objects.
As the setting sun or morning sunrise reveals the form and texture of our landscapes,
my current work uses projected and programmable colored lights to reveal subtleties in
the sculpture and provide for the audience an experiential event.
